In this series of facial facades, or masks, I aimed to create three distinct pieces, each reflecting different aspects of my character. The materials I selected were inspired by my weekly 45-minute commute to Denton, Texas, often spent in heavy traffic. I wanted to incorporate the very elements that dominated my senses during these drives—metals, chrome, lacquer, and glass—materials that echoed the constant stream of automobiles around me. As I drove home in the evenings, the metallic surfaces would catch and reflect the vibrant colors of neon signs and traffic lights. This inspired me to introduce color into the pieces by carefully manipulating lighting to capture the full spectrum of hues within the dimensional forms. Ultimately, this series became a personal reflection of my life and experiences during graduate school.
Silverback
Silverback
My students affectionately call me the Silverback Mountain Gorilla—or is it Guerilla?—a nickname coined by one of my former students and colleagues, David Biloh. The name stems from my imposing presence and the intensity I bring when challenging students to push their creative boundaries. I’m known for my aggressive tone and relentless drive to push artists toward higher levels of achievement. It’s a demanding role, but one I embrace fully, constantly guiding creative minds to reach ambitious goals. It's a "curse" I thoroughly enjoy.

TechnoBwana

This piece reflects the meticulous attention to detail I bring to every aspect of my life, merging art and technology into a seamless hybrid. Growing up in a "good ole boy" environment, I transitioned into a technophile world, blending artistic creativity with computer science in equal measure. Layer upon layer of detail became my signature. I embraced the life of a gypsy bohemian nomad artist, constantly evolving and refining my craft. For me, it’s always about the details—every single one counts.
